| With designs in mind to get past her uninterest in him, Andy passed along Carrie's resume to HR at Geneva Global in July 2005. After getting the job, the two shared a cubicle wall and lunch every day. Their friendship slowly blossomed (as planned), and after a few false starts, they officially started dating in January of 2006. After six months of dating, Andy commissioned an engagement ring. Three weeks later, Carrie was ready to be asked. Confident that there was no ring, she let Andy know what she was looking for. The theoretical ring described by Carrie didn't exactly match the ring that Andy had received only a day before, and his face gave away its existence. Carrie left Andy's house with a healthy mix of excitement and terror, expecting the proposal a week later in Michigan. However, heeding wise counsel, Andy decided to move the proposal up by a week and propose at the picturesque Longwood Gardens during the final event of the 2006 Geneva Global All Staff Conference. After breaking from the masses, Andy brought Carrie to the "Love Temple" and got down on one knee. She shrieked, "Andy, it's beautiful! Yes, of course I'll marry you!" (She ended up liking the ring very much, with its elegant round stone, for those of you who wondered.) Upon their return to the crowd, Andy and Carrie were surrounded by 100 of their closest friends, offering their best wishes, congratulations, and hugs. Hundreds of pictures were taken, lest the event be forgotten. |
